An exquisite, contemporary portrait with influences of Art Nouveau and medieval illumination. The scene shows a A beautiful, yet menacing woman in a star covered dress, standing over a vast landscape of rolling hills under a foreboding red sky. A crow sits to the right, with a bloody eyeball in its beak. The writing below reads "Heed Her smile should the sky be red. The Meadow burns to fuel your dread. Bless Mother Meadow and all she brings, lest she strike and as she sings, devours your heathen head." The painting has been picked out in gold detailing. The artist has signed to the reverse of the paper and the painting has been presented in a fine contemporary gilt frame with pierced molding, finished with a black arched window mount. On paper.

Artist Biography

Isabelle Mulvany studied Fine Art specialising in sculpture at Central Saint Martins, although her draftsmanship overcame her sculptural practice and she is currently focused on portraiture and figurative illustration.

Isabelle relishes folklore symbolism and iconography, which she works into many of her portraits, adding nods to lunar phenomena, omens and other such mythology.
