Description

A colourful painted sketch of a striking male portrait. The sitter has a forlorn, distant look in their eye and their skin is array of colour. The painting is left unfinished with the graphite under drawing visible. The artist has signed and dated to the lower right corner. The painting is presented in a ribbed oak frame. On wove.

Condition

There is some minor creasing at the lower edge. The frame has a loss to the right edge and an area of surface scuffing to the upper right corner.

Artist Biography

Isabelle Mulvany studied Fine Art specialising in sculpture at Central Saint Martins, although her draftsmanship overcame her sculptural practice and she is currently focused on portraiture and figurative illustration.

Isabelle relishes folklore symbolism and iconography, which she works into many of her portraits, adding nods to lunar phenomena, omens and other such mythology.
