A striking turn of the Century portrait of an austere looking man in the uniform of a military general. His stern expression and sharp attire give him an air of confidence and authority. The painting has been inscribed and signed faintly and indistinctly to the reverse. The word "General" can be made out as well as "Co Down," likely shorthand for County Down in Ireland. The painting has been presented in a 20th Century brushed gilt frame with red cove. On canvas.
Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and surface dirt. The frame has some minor scuffing.
