Collection Information
From a large collection of paintings by Irene Bache who was the Head of art Swansea College of Education. Born in London, Bache moved to Wales in 1944 where she became Chairman of the Swansea Art Society. "As a watercolourist in the tradition of her heroes, Turner, John Cotman and Constable, she was pre-eminent in the depiction of the dramatic landscape of South Wales, and in particular of Gower, with its brooding skies, sheer cliffs and wild seas."
