Description
A fine late 19th Century oil group portrait showing a young woman, slumped in a chair, seemingly weakened in her lovesick state as a mischievous cupid holds his arrows proudly behind her. An elderly woman holds the young lady, with a look of concern on her face while a doctor holds her wrist, checking her pulse, looking very confused. The scene has a charming narrative and vibrant colours. The painting has been signed at the lower left corner and presented in a fine early 20th Century frame with scrolling acanthus leaf molding and gilt slip. The canvas has been fully re-lined. On re-lined canvas.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. The canvas has been fully re-lined. There is some craquelure to the surface. There is over painting in areas and minor losses to the lower left quadrant.
