This early 20th-century style portrait depicts a long-haired figure in 18th century attire posed in a contemplative manner. The subject rests their head against one hand while the other holds a gold-tipped cane. Dramatic chiaroscuro lighting casts the figure against a warm brown background, emphasising the melancholic expression and brooding mood. Signed indistinctly to the lower right. Well presented in a gilt frame with floral ornaments. On canvas on stretchers.
Condition
Light abrasions; however, overall the artwork is in fine condition. Wear to the frame, including scuffs and small chips. Overall, the frame is in very good condition for its age.
