An exquisitely detailed landscape showing vast, snow coloured mountains in the background of an autumnal valley. A river runs through the middle of the scene, surrounded by trees with orange and brown leaves. Delicate, directional brush strokes create a depth and texture true to the reality of nature. The artist has signed to the lower left corner and the painting has been presented in a handsome, gilt effect frame with glazing and a teal card mount with alternating gilt and delicately marbled inner window. Condition
The condition of the painting is remarkable given its age. There is no discolouration and only one or two spots of light foxing in the sky. The frame has a small chip to the lower and left edges but is in otherwise fine condition.
