Henry Day was an landscape artist and printmaker born in The Poplars near Halesworth, Suffolk. In his younger years the was an apprentice to John Sell Cotman in Great Yarmouth where the learnt the art of etching and completed a series of architectural studies. the exhibited with The Norwich Society of Artists in Westhall, Beccles from 1817 to 1819 before continuing his training under George Cook, a London engraver.
After marrying the lived and work in Southwold, Suffolk and then later moved to Ipswich where the completed some of his most renowned etchings. the exhibited with the Suffolk Fine Arts Association during this time. Davy continued painting and printmaking for the rest of his life, contributing to many illustrated journals.
