A tranquil late 19th-century riverside scene attributed to Henry Baines depicting fishermen making their way along a meandering river as the sun gently sets, casting soft shades of pink and red across the landscape. Unsigned. Inscribed to the stretcher verso. Well presented in an ornate gilt frame. On canvas on stretchers.Condition
Abrasions, very fine craquelure and light staining throughout. Some discolouration to the surface. Inspection under UV light reveals no apparent restoration. Overall the artwork is in good condition for its age. Wear to the frame, including scuffs, chips and indentations throughout. The frame has undergone previous restoration, including fills to the inner edge. Overall the frame remains in good condition for its age.
