There is a large amount of deterioration to the surface, typical in larger acrylic ink artworks. The losses are particularly prevalent in the right side. Due to the texture of the painting, these losses are not particularly noticeable. The frame has general scuffing.

Hanna Weil was a British painter. Born in Munich, Germany in 1921, Weil relocated with her family to England in 1932 before the outbreak of World War II. She attended the North London Collegiate School before enrolling at St Martins School of Art between 1940 and 1943. Upon graduating, Weil began her career as an art teacher working first for the Hammersmith School of Arts and Crafts between the years of 1945 to 1948 before returning to St Martins, where she remained a popular tutor until 1987.
She exhibited at the Royal Academy and numerous other galleries throughout Britain during her career. Weil was best known for her decidedly surreal landscapes and still life studies which present an intriguing use of perspective and a bold grasp of colour. The artist died in 2011. Prints of posters designed by Weil are available to this day at the London Transport Museum.
