Artist Biography
Gillian Roberts RSMA is a Yorkshire-based British oil painter known for her vibrant, expressive work in the English Impressionist tradition. She paints primarily en plein air, capturing everyday scenes such as musicians in rehearsal, bustling street life, shipyards, and maritime settings with bold brushwork and a keen sense of light and atmosphere. Elected an Associate Member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists in 2014 and a Full Member in 2015, Roberts has received multiple awards, including the Daler Rowney Award, the Winsor & Newton Prize, and the RSMA Small Picture Prize. Her work is widely exhibited in Yorkshire and London.
