Alexandre Auguste Ledru-Rollin (1807-1874) was a French lawyer, politician and journalist who emerged as one of the leaders of the French Revolution of 1848. He is depicted here in miniature, gazing contemplatively into the distance. Beautifully presented in an antique gilt frame. Inscribed verso. Unsigned. On card.

Condition

Signs of wear consistent with age including discolouration and craquelure. Areas of overpainting. Slight gap between the board and frame on the lefthand margin. Marks and scuffs to the frame.
