A fine early 19th century genre painting depicting a lady and her maid in a bedroom interior. The lady wears a yellow bodice with blue ribbon, white skirt and shawl, whilst her maid attends to her hair, pinning fresh roses as a finishing touch. The painting is well presented in a wooden frame with an orange blossom running pattern adorning the inner window. Unsigned. On copper plate.
Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age, including fine craquelure and minor yellowing to the varnish layer. Minor abrasion to the perimeter of the painting, caused by movement in the frame. The frame itself is in excellent condition.
