An appealing study of a seated figure, painted with a light, confident touch. Left slightly unfinished, which only adds to its charm — the loose lines and open patches of ground give it a freshness that a more polished picture would lose. The bright yellow chair holds the whole thing together and gives it real warmth. A fine example of mid-century style, and one that would sit happily in a modern interior. Light surface discolouration throughout, including yellowing to the varnish layer. Minor surface marks and abrasions. Small, localised losses to the paint layer at the edges and corners of the canvas. A light, even patina of age is present across the surface of the artwork. The artwork is in good condition for its age.
