Georges Joubin

A Parisian painter by tradition, Joubin brings out the physical reality of beings, going directly to what can express their nature. His work transposes into his own vision the simple reality of everyday life.

Alfred Flavien Georges Joubin (1888-1983) was a French painter. Having been orphaned at a young age, he received his artistic training at the Académie Julian and then at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris. In 1912, he settled in the artists' colony "Les Fusains" in Montmartre, Paris.

He participated in the founding of the École de Montmartre, whose manifesto proclaimed: "we believe we can create a work not nourished by abstraction, but plunging into the very roots of life." A street in Digny, his birthplace, now bears his name.
