A fine watercolour seascape of fishing vessels on the Scheldt by well listed artist, George S. Walters. With touches of gouache. Signed to the lower left. Inscribed with the title on the reverse. Also fixed to the reverse is a auction catalogue from Christie's, titled English Drawings and Watercolours, dated the 16th December 1980. Well presented in a hard wood frame, with white card mount. Glazed. On wove.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and light foxing to the watercolour. The frame is in very good condition.

Artist Biography
George Stanfield Walters was born in 1838. A marine and coastal painter, he was grandson to ship portraitist Miles Walters, and son and pupil of Samuel Walters, who had served in the navy and was a marine painter living in Liverpool and Bootle.
G.S. Walters moved to London in about 1864, and was elected to the Society of British Artists in 1897. He was a prolific exhibitor, and he painted on the Channel coasts as well as landscapes in the Lake District, the Thames and Wales and scenes on the Venetian Lagoon.
