The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and minor foxing. Tear repair to the upper right measuring 12cm.

Artist Biography
Painter, born at Blakeney, Norfolk. He is best known for his marine paintings and was a draper before turning to painting. Self-taught he appears to have only exhibited in the North East at venues such as the Bewick Art Club and the South Shields Art Club. He had nine sons of whom three, Herbert Walter, Albert Ernest and Norman Septimus also painted.
