George Glover - Original 17th Century Engraving. Laid on paper. Portrait of English historian and martyrologist John Foxe, the author of 'Actes and Monuments' (popularly known as Foxe's Book of Martyrs), an account of Christian martyrs throughout Western history. Signed in plate. On laid. In poor condition - folds and discolouration to paper. Trimmed at plate. Various small open and closed tears around edges.

George Glover (active 1625–1650) was an English engraver, working in the reign (1625-1649) of Charles I. He mainly worked for London publishers, including Robert Peake, Thomas Banks, John Hinde and Peter Stent. He also self-published a plate of Queen Henrietta Maria, after a painting by Van Dyck.
