Collection Information
Sulis Fine Art is eager to present this handsome collection of original early 18th Century Biblical engravings, published in the 1720 'Figures de la Bible' by Dutch engraver Bernard Picart. Of the 212 plates in the original volume, 79 were by Picart's hand, with many others by a range of Dutch engravers working in Amsterdam at the time. Each is entitled in six different languages. These lavish, highly figurative illustrations represent the continued artistic accomplishments of the Netherlands in the 18th Century, decades on from the Dutch Golden Age.
