A finely detailed engraving after 'The Lady of Charity' by the French genre, history, and portrait painter Jean-Baptiste Greuze (1725-1805). The scene depicts a wealthy lady encouraging her young daughter to give alms to a dying elderly man. The engraving was published by Esnauts and Rapilly, a Parisian print publishing partnership founded by Jacques Esnault and Michel Rapilly active in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries.
