Artist Biography

Francesco Bartolozzi (1927-1815) was an Italian painter and engraver. He was one of the founding members of the Royal Academy and served the King for forty years. He also engraved works by his fellow RA members, including Joshua Reynolds and Angela Kauffman. Bartolozzi is best known for being a lead developer in the invention of the 'stipple' engraving technique.
