A comical genre scene is executed in a naïve manner. A woman pulls her husband away from a pub, likely called 'The Quiet Woman' by the hanging sign, whilst the barman proffers a tankard of ale towards him, attempting to entice him back inside. Well presented in an antique wooden frame with a gilt trim. Unsigned. On panel.

Condition

Signs of wear consistent with age including discolouration, surface dirt, and craquelure. Some small losses to the paint. Inspection under UV light reveals no restoration. Wear to the frame.
