A very fine and delicate copy of Rolinda Sharples c.1825 painting of a young boy trying (and failing) to blow out a candle in a darkened room. The use of chiaroscuro is expertly done within this composition and the study is a fine example of early 19th century oil painting. Well presented in a gilt effect frame with linen slip. Unsigned. On panel.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some surface marks and scratches. These have been partially restored. Some marks and scuffs to the frame.
