A very fine late 18th or early 19th Century Monro School watercolour en grisaille, depicting a horse on a rocky outcrop. The view is likely to represent the Roman Campagna, or another similar Classical setting, The work is highly reminiscent of Italian views painted by Turner for Dr Thomas Monro. Well-presented in a washline mount and gilt effect wooden frame. Unsigned. On wove.
Condition
In very good condition for a picture of this age. Some surface discolouration, and a small hole near the centre that has been repaired. The frame is in very good condition.
