The artist has created this humorous figurative study without context, giving a light hearted sense of feeling to the work. The men are dressed in a typical manner for the late 19th Century. Well-presented in an ornate gilt painted frame with corner ornamentation. On canvas laid to wooden panel. Unsigned.
Condition
In good condition overall, for a picture of this age. Inspection under UV light reveals no restoration. There is a tiny paint loss near the centre. The frame has some missing moulding, wear and cracking, as shown.
