A beautiful 18th century Arcadian landscape scene depicting a picturesque riverside scattered with figures. Ruins in the background lead the eye across the river to distant hills. The fine, almost miniature brushwork and jewel-toned palette suggest an early Flemish hand. Presented in an ornate scrolling acanthus frame with inner slip. Unsigned. On panel.
Condition
A light, even patina of age is present across the surface of the artwork. Radial craquelure is noted throughout the panel. Inspection under UV light reveals very minor overpainting. The frame has a fine patina of age. Overall, the artwork is in very good condition.
