This striking 19th century portrait depicts a lady of high social standing. She wears a sweeping silk gown with a low décolletage and soft ruffled trim at the shoulders, a pink rose tucked romantically at the bodice. A wide-brimmed dark hat crowned with a voluminous white ostrich feather sits atop her loosely curled hair. Her jewellery is elegantly understated - a double-strand pearl necklace sits close to the throat, complemented by a gold bracelet and a delicate ring. Unsigned. Beautifully presented in a gilt frame.
