Description

Painted towards the start of the 19th century, this charming watercolour depicts a quiet countryside location with a gentle river running down the right-hand side. In the foreground a gentleman can be seen walking his dog along the river path, while his wife struggles with the gate behind. Unsigned. The watercolour has been elegantly presented in a gilt-effect frame with a crisp white mount. On watercolour paper.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some even discolouration to the watercolour and minor foxing. The gilt frame is in a good condition with minor wear, and their is a small stain in the upper right corner of the mount.
