A charming study of two figures fishing before a watermill in the Machno valley in North Wales. Signed with a monogram to the lower right. Signed and titled to the reverse. On paper laid to board.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. Some marking to the edges of the paper.

Artist Biography
Arthur Wellesley Cottrell was a painter and engraver born in Birmingham the son of a brass founder. He is recorded in the 1871 census as an artist still living in the city of Birmingham. Referred to as Wellesley Cottrell he was elected an Associate of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, and he also exhibited at the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, New Gallery, Royal Academy and Royal Cambrian Academy. He lived for some years at Glan Conwy, North Wales where his death was recorded in 1913.
