A striking early 19th Century watercolour view of the impressive Château de Kirchberg in Germany. The scene shows the castle nestled in rocky, verdant grounds with forests all around. Sun pours down onto the facade and two figures can be seen on a terrace to the right. The artist has signed to the lower left corner and the painting has been presented in a contemporary gilt effect frame with wash-line mount. There are several labels at the reverse with the artist's name and dates and the location of the scene. On wove.

Eugène Édouard Soulès, born in Paris on February 26, 18111 and died in the same city on February 4, 1876, was a French painter. Mathieu Eugène Édouard Soulès is the son of Pierre Soulès and Marie Reine Bachelet.He married Antoinette Clémentine Duval. He died at his Parisian home on Rue Notre-Dame-de-Lorette at the age of 65.
