Erno Barta - Early 20th Century Etching Hungarian Dance
Description
A charming early 20th century etching with hand colouring by the Hungarian artist Ernő Barta, depicting a traditionally dressed couple dancing together in an open rural landscape. The figures’ richly patterned folk costumes are captured with intricate detail, from the woman’s embroidered bodice and full skirt to the man’s broad-brimmed hat and flowing sash. The graceful movement of the dancers, particularly the sweeping ribbons trailing behind them, gives the composition a wonderful sense of rhythm and vitality. Executed in delicate washes of colour, the work combines the decorative qualities of folk art with a lively and intimate depiction of Hungarian traditional culture. Signed in plate and in graphite. Well presented in a simple dark frame. On paper.Condition
Light foxing to the paper. Some marks and minor discolouration to the paper. The frame has minor surface wear and scuffs. The artwork is in very good condition for its age.
