A beautiful object in itself, this early 20th Century Impressionist woodland scene is of charmingly decorative size. The scene shows an eerie woodland creek in a forest with bare trees. The painting is unsigned and has been very attractively presented in a decorative frame with scrolling foliate and floral molding (circa 1930). The frame has a graduated green finish that fades into a pale yellow/off-white. There are touches of tarnished gilt on the high points of the molding. On canvas.
Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. The frame has some discolouration and natural ageing to the surface. Some losses at the corners.
