Description

A charming early 20th century oil depicting a Middle Eastern street scene dominated by a towering minaret and ancient stone archways. The artist naively portrays a diverse crowd beneath a warm, hazy sky. Bears signature to the lower right. On canvas on stretchers.

Condition

There is widespread craquelure to the surface, wear to the edges and small areas of paint loss. The painting has undergone previous restoration, including areas that have been filled in. There is some discolouration to the varnish, as well as areas of staining and ingrained dirt.
