Framed 19th Century Oil - Washing Beneath the Bridge
Description
A charming nineteenth century European street scene in which a woman stands on the bank of a river washing clothes, a wooden bridge connecting the towering buildings on either side. The piece is well presented in an ornate gilt frame. Unsigned. On panel.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and craquelure. Areas of overpainting. Indent and faint scratch to the upper left. Slight gap between the panel and frame on the righthand side. Cracking and losses to the frame, parts of which have been restored and repainted. Despite the noted imperfections, the condition is good for a picture of this age and the piece presents well.
