Description

This atmospheric early 20th century pastoral scene depicts harvesters hard at work in the field. The artist employs loose, atmospheric brushwork and a soft, muted palette to capture the scene. Beautifully presented in an ornate gilt frame. Signed indistinctly to the lower right. Original label verso. On canvas on stretchers.

Condition

Light abrasions and very fine craquelure. There is a small dent to the right of the canvas. Wear to the edges. Inspection under UV light reveals small areas of overpainting. Overall the artwork is in very good condition for its age. Wear to the frame, including scuffs, chips and fine cracking throughout. The frame has been previously restored.
