Early 20th Century Engraving - Hogarth's Beer Street
Description
An early-20th century restrike of William Hogarth's 'Beer Street, first issued in 1751 alongside 'Gin Lane' in support of what would become the Gin Act. Designed to be viewed alongside each other, they depict the evils of the consumption of gin as a contrast to the merits of drinking beer. Presented glazed in a grey mount with gold detailing and a gilt-effect wooden frame.
Condition
There is some slight discolouration at the edges but overall the engraving is crisp with bold lines.
