A charming depiction of Saint Barbara, a Christian martyr and a symbol of courage and devotion in the face of adversity. She is also the patron saint of armourers, artillerymen, military engineers and those who work with explosives, owing to her association with lightning. Unsigned. There is widespread craquelure to the surface and some discolouration to the varnish. The painting has undergone some restoration, including a canvas repair. Light wear to the gilt frame.
