An amusing genre scene by Italian artist Raffaele Frigerio (1875-1948). This work is likely a copy after another piece, as several examples of the same scene exist. Although the original could not be identified, the composition resembles works by fellow Italian artist Arturo Ricci (1854-1919). Signed to the lower right. Well presented in an antique gilt frame. On canvas on stretchers.
Condition
The artwork has undergone some restorative work, including a canvas tear repair and areas of overpainting. Discolouration to the paint. Faint impressions from the stretchers. Scuffs and small losses to the frame.
