Description
A fine early 19th Century portrait in oil, showing a young boy in traditional smock dress and trousers, holding a posy of flowers as his little dog rests its head lovingly in his lap. The painting is unsigned and presented in a substantial late 19th Century gilt frame with ornate acanthus leaf corner ornamentation and palmette strap work. Finished with a contemporary gilt slip. On re-lined canvas.Condition
There is some discolouration and aging to the varnish, typical with its age. There is some craquelure to the surface. Inspection under UV light reveals some areas of restoration. The canvas has been fully re-lined.
