A historical scene depicting a man and woman having afternoon tea in a drawing room. Presented in an ornate gilt-effect wooden frame with swept rails and pierced corners. Signed to the lower-left edge. On watercolour paper.

Condition

There is some mild foxing and discolouration. Overall in very good condition.

Artist Biography

Duncan Mackellar (1849-1908) was a painter, primarily of genre scenes, born in Inverary, Scotland. Mackellar worked in Glasgow and painted interiors with figures in 18th-century costume. He was a member of the Royal Scottish Watercolour Society.
