Description

An original oil painting by David Collings (b.1949) depicting moored fishing boats at Newlyn. Collings has rendered the vessels in a clean, modernist style with bold blocks of colour. The composition focuses on the clustered vessels with their distinctive hull numbers, registration marks, and mooring lines. Presented in a painted wooden frame. Signed and dated (1995) in the lower right. On board.

Condition

There is a fine hairline scratch to the painting's lower left-hand corner and a similar light scratch mark to the lower right-hand quadrant. Light dirtying and marks to the wooden frame. The overall condition of the artwork is good.

Artist Biography

David Collings (b. 1949) is a British artist, associated with the Newlyn School in Cornwall, who studied at the Redruth School of Art and Berkshire College of Education. He is a member of the Newlyn Society of Artists (NSA) and has exhibited in both group and solo shows.
