Colonel Bernard Granville Baker (1870-1957) - Framed Oil Mounted Cavalry
Description
A fine original oil painting by the well-known military painter Bernard Granville Baker (1870-1957). Baker depicts three officers from the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, practicing drills in a landscape, with a distant barn just in view. The bright red coats and rather glamorous helmets draw the eye in this otherwise bucolic scene of rural England. Signed to the lower left-hand corner. Well presented in an antique gilt slip frame. On canvas board.Condition
In very good condition for a picture of this age. Inspection under UV light reveals no restoration. Some light surface discolouration, with a lighter area along the lower edge. The gilt slip has some light wear and very small losses to the corners, with a fine patina of age.
