Circa 1865 hand-painted porcelain oval plaque depicting Ruth, after the original work by celebrated French artist Charles Landelle (1812–1908). Also known as 'Ruth the Gleaner', the piece portrays the young biblical widow from the Book of Ruth gleaning wheat in the fields of Boaz. Presented in an ebonised oval frame with brass window and hanger. Inscribed verso. On porcelain.
Condition
The artwork presents very well, with only very minor wear to the oval frame.
