A joyous watercolour scene by Ethel M. Mallinson (fl.1917-1940), depicting adults and children at the funfair. Mallinson has captured games such as Tin Can Alley and hook a duck in a vibrant spectrum of colour. Signed by the artist to the lower right. The watercolour has been well-presented in a stylish grey frame with a crisp new mount. On watercolour paper.

Artist Biography

Ethel Mallinson specialised in landscapes and townscapes in watercolour and showed twice with the Yorkshire Union of Artists, towards the end of the 19th century. She also exhibited at the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, the Royal Scottish Academy and the Royal Scottish Academy of Painters in Watercolour. She was a member of the Leeds Fine Artists Club and was its Secretary for 40 years, from 1908 to 1948.
