This charming oil study depicts crowds gathering on the riverbank of The Shannon River in Ireland. The racers glide past the crowd on the calm waters, each team sporting their chosen colours. The artist captures the figures in a series of gestural brushstrokes, with a strong use of shadow to create bring depth to the piece. Signed and dated to the lower right. Artist Biography
Sean Hargadon is an Irish painter born in Sligo in 1951. He studies art in both New York and London and no lives in London with his wife and children. His work is heavily influenced by his surrounding with earlier works being based on the farm where he grew up and later work focusing on his currently lifestyle and thoughts. Hargadon describes his style as a type of minimalism.
