A man enjoys a bottle of wine beside a fire in a cosy, dimly-lit cellar in this charming late nineteenth-century genre scene. The work is unsigned; however, a label affixed to the reverse attributes the work to Carl Ostersetzer (1865–1914). Well presented in an ornate gilt frame. On panel.Condition
Signs of wear consistent with age, including some discolouration. Small loss to the paint in the upper left. Inspection under UV light reveals areas of overpainting. Scuffs, stable cracking, and small losses to the frame. Overall, the artwork is in good condition for its age.
