This romantic 19th-century portrait depicts a young woman in profile, her gaze turned pensively to the left as her dark hair is swept into an elegant loose chignon. The artist accentuates the luminous softness of the sitter's pale complexion and the delicate yellow drapery of her gown, which cascades gently around her shoulders. Signed with an initial to the lower left. Beautifully presented in an ornate gilt frame with foliate motifs. On canvas on stretchers.
Condition
Light scratches to the surface. Inspection under UV light reveals no apparent restoration. Overall the artwork is in very good condition for its age. The frame is in fine condition.
