Description

An atmospheric and striking portrait of a powerful Native American chieftain, astride his white horse, gazing up at the night sky, arms outstretched with the full moon behind him. This painting is full of magic and mysticism. The artist has monogrammed at the lower left corner and the painting is presented in a contemporary gilt effect frame with ornate, foliate, swept and pierced rail and corners. There is a label at the reverse, indicating that this painting was exhibited in 1952 at the Bristol Savages Club gallery. On canvas board.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and a small area of foxing in the upper right corner. The frame has had areas of restoration to the molding.
