Description
A family of goats grazes on a verdant hilltop in this bucolic scene. The dusty orange hues of sunset cast a warm glow across the composition, whilst the spire of a church is visible on a distant hill. An inscription to the reverse of the panel attributes the work to the Belgian animal painter Balthazar Paul Ommeganck (1755-1826). The work is beautifully presented in a gilt frame adorned with ornate foliate and beaded running patterns. On panel.Condition
Signs of wear consistent with age, including some discolouration. Inspection under UV light reveals no apparent restoration. Light wear to the frame. The artwork is in very good condition for its age and presents well.
