A charming oil on paper portrait depicting Knoop's dear friend captured working on a still life composition of flowers in a busy studio interior. Unfortunately, we have been unable to identify the male sitter in the portrait, but an inscription in German on the reverse reads 'August Hermann Knoop. My dear friend ? in portrait. Munich 1910.' Faintly signed to the lower right of the composition with a clearer signature verso. The painting is well presented in an ornate gilt-effect frame with decorative floral and acanthus corners and hatched detailing to the profile. On paper laid to board.
Condition
The overall condition of the artwork is very good for its age. There is a small hairline crack in the paper to the upper left-hand corner. Minor dirtying to the gilt effect frame. The overall condition is very good.
